Desdemona SQF 2011 Hanoverian Filly by Damsey, out of EM Seance (Sandro Hit / Rotspon)
Desdemona SQF is absolutely exquisite! Just LOOK at that face! That PERFECT little body! Everyone who sees her comments that she looks just like a little porcelain statue, she is such perfection. I expect her to finish out on the smaller side: around 16.0 to 16.1 hands.
Here is a verbatim quote from Suzanne Quarrels, longtime chair of the American Hanoverian breeding committee when she saw Desi:
"This is a filly by Damsey out of a Sandro Hit mare…. She is extremely feminine, delicate, very refined. A very pretty neck which got better when she moved. You can see it is a nice neck to set in your hand as a riding horse. Her movement: she bounces off the ground like a little rubber ball. Very elastic, very uphill, and very, very refined."

Desi was actually WAY butt high when these photos were taken. Even so, when it is time to G-O, her front naturally comes right on up and her hind legs step under and push. Desi is going to be a very refined and elegant lady, and relatively petite. My best guess right now is that she will go about 16 hands.
Desi carries the blood of the finest sport horse stallions on the planet. Her sire, Damsey, is proving to be a most exceptional dressage stallion. His walk and his huge trot catch the eye of any serious dressage rider or judge. In the fall of 2009 we traveled to Hengststation Jens Meyer in Northern Germany on the North Sea. A truly BEAUTIFUL farm and setting, a lovely welcome from Susanne and Jens Meyer, and the stallions........OMG! We got to meet Damsey and see him work. It was quite a thrill. He was very convincing, and as we flew home across the Atlantic, I vowed to breed my EMC Seance to him. Voila!! Thus Desi was born!!
EM Seance, Desi's mother, is a spectacular 4th generation States Premium/Elite mare, and that quality and correctness certainly shines through in this foal. Hopefully when she is three years old, Desi will complete the inspection and performance test requirements, produce a foal, and thus become a 5th generation SP/Elite Hanoverian mare. But if her job at her new home is to be a dressage horse, she will be most pleased!
