Balanchine certainly lives up to his namesake:
renowned ballet choreographer George Balanchine.
This boy can
MOVE.  In the photo below taken at the
2006 Hanoverian inspections, "George" had only been
weaned a short time, and was definitely in one of
those gangly 'jacked up in the back' stages.  But once
he  started to go, oh, my, oh my!  His 'air time'
prompted the judges to comment "This colt is at a
somewhat awkward stage now, but his movement is
excellent....  He is just like a little motor boat; when
the engine turns on, the hind end goes down and he
comes right up in the front!"

Balanchine's lineage: Bugatti Hilltop (Bergamon ~
Rubenstein ~ Donnerhall) out of SPS Rose
(Rotspon ~ World Cup I). This guy has
unbelievable breeding: aren't those just the most
famous Hanoverian dressage stallions of all time??
Plus a double dose of Rubenstein!

Our sweet boy spends his days floating around the
pasture. He has air time to spare, and all 3 gaits of
the highest quality. I have to admit, I go out in the
pasture and egg him on just for the joy of watching
him go.  And he is really down hill right now, can't
wait to see him when he evens up!

Balanchine's sire, Bugatti Hilltop, is the sensational
black stallion trained by Michael Klimke (recognize
THAT name?!) Balanchine's dam, SPS Rose, is one
of those rare mares who scored an overall "8" at
her Hanoverian studbook inspection and an "8.5"
on her under saddle performance test. She is a
third generation SPS mare. You will not find better
breeding, period.
Balanchine has shed out to the most
WONDERFUL black/bay this spring.  I
love his tail most: black with spectacular
ash blonde highlights!
